Dental Hygienist

Dental hygienists provide professional teeth cleaning for patients. They examine the gums to check for gum disease. They may numb a certain area so that the dentist can perform a certain procedure. Dental hygienists also help dentists by preparing a patient for surgery, and taking stitches out after surgery. They also make models of teeth. They are expected to keep up to date on the most recent dental research.

It is possible with some years of experience and higher education to advance into other kinds of work in dentistry.

Entry-level skills: High school diploma or GED; CPR training; specific training in certified program required; manual dexterity; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; detail-oriented
