Dental Assistant

Dental assistants help dentists treat patients. They clean the instruments and tools that dentists use. They get the patient ready for a procedure or for x-rays. Dental assistants also take dental x-rays. They hand dentists instruments and clear the patient's mouth of any saliva or water by suctioning it out. Dental assistants tell patients how to care for their teeth after the procedure is done.

With further education dental assistants can become hygienists or dentists. Many dental assistants apprentice with their employers during their academic work to gain necessary field experience.
